Step-by-Step Instructions for Creamy One-Pot Broccoli Cheddar Orzo
  1. In a large pot, pour in your vegetable or chicken broth and bring it to a gentle simmer over medium heat.
  2. Once the broth is simmering, add the orzo and broccoli into the pot, stirring to combine all ingredients. Cook for about 10–12 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  3. Reduce the heat to low, then stir in the shredded cheddar cheese and heavy cream into the pot. Continue mixing until the cheese has completely melted.
  4. If the sauce is too thin, create a slurry of cornstarch or flour with water and gradually add to the pot, stirring until thickened.
  5. If using proteins, stir them in now, allowing them to heat through for 2–3 minutes.
  6. Taste and season with salt and pepper as desired. Serve warm in bowls.
