  1. In a large saucepan, heat over medium heat and add the Italian sausage and diced onion. Cook for about 5-7 minutes until browned and onion is translucent.
  2. Stir in the minced garlic, ground fennel, and red pepper flakes, sautéing for an additional 1 minute until fragrant.
  3. Pour in the chicken broth and add the diced tomatoes, ditalini pasta, and Italian seasoning. Bring to a rolling boil.
  4. Reduce the heat to low and let the soup simmer uncovered for about 6-8 minutes, or until the pasta is al dente.
