Cooking Instructions
  1. In a large saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter until it starts to foam and bubble gently.
  2. Add the diced onion, stirring often for about 4 minutes until translucent, then add minced garlic and cook for an additional 30 seconds.
  3. Sprinkle in the flour, stirring continuously to form a smooth paste for about 1 minute.
  4. Whisk in the broth and milk gradually, then season with salt, paprika, and black pepper.
  5. Add the chopped broccoli and grated carrot, stirring well to incorporate them.
  6. Cover the pot, reduce the heat to low, and cook for 10 to 12 minutes until the broccoli is fork-tender.
  7. Remove from heat, stir in the smoked gouda until melted.
  8. Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary, serve warm.
