Base
  • 1 loaf Brioche Bread day-old preferred for optimal texture
  • 6 large Eggs
Custard Mixture
  • 2 cups Whole Milk can use dairy alternatives
  • 1/4 cup Maple Syrup
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract pure vanilla recommended
  • 1/4 teaspoon Kosher Salt
Filling
  • 8 ounces Cream Cheese brick cream cheese preferred
  • 2 cups Strawberries fresh, avoid frozen
Serving (Optional)
  • 1 cup Confectioners’ Sugar for dusting
  • 1 cup Additional Strawberries for serving

Method
 

Preparation Steps
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Lightly coat a 9x13 inch baking dish with nonstick spray.
  3. Layer half of the cubed brioche in the baking dish, followed by half of the cream cheese cubes and half of the strawberries.
  4. Add the remaining brioche cubes on top, followed by the rest of the cream cheese and strawberries.
  5. In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, whole milk, maple syrup, vanilla extract, and kosher salt until smooth.
  6. Pour the custard mixture evenly over the layers and press down to ensure absorption.
  7. Cover with plastic wrap or foil and refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight.
  8. Let it stand at room temperature for 30 minutes before baking.
  9. Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes, then uncover and bake for another 25-30 minutes until golden.
  10. Let it cool for a few minutes and serve warm, optionally dusted with confectioners’ sugar and fresh strawberries.
