  • 1 pinch Black Pepper
  • 1 teaspoon Dried Thyme Oregano can be used as substitute
  • 1 teaspoon Cinnamon Optional
  • 1 teaspoon Chili Powder Optional
  • 1 teaspoon Cloves Optional
  • 1 teaspoon Allspice Optional
  • 1 teaspoon Flaky Salt Any coarse salt can be used

Method
 

Preparation Steps
  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Dust your work surface with flour, unroll the puff pastry, and roll it out to 1/8 inch thick. Cut into four equal squares.
  3. Place a slice of ham in the center of each pastry square and sprinkle with grated Gruyère cheese.
  4. In a bowl, mix spices and sprinkle over the cheese on each pastry.
  5. Beat the egg with water for the egg wash and brush on the edges of the pastry squares.
  6. Fold one corner over the filling, seal, brush the top with egg wash, and sprinkle with flaky salt.
  7. Bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown and puffed. Let cool on a wire rack.
