Step-by-Step Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a standard 9x5 loaf pan thoroughly.
- In a mixing bowl, combine whole wheat flour, bread flour, salt, and baking soda. Whisk until blended.
- In a separate bowl, stir together buttermilk and honey until mixed. Pour wet ingredients into dry ingredients and mix gently.
- Pour the batter into the greased loaf pan and smooth the top. Bake for 40 to 45 minutes.
- Once baked, let it cool in the pan for about 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
- Wrap the cooled loaf in foil and freeze for 1 to 1.5 hours.
- Slice the loaf as thinly as possible, about 1/4 inch thick.
- Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C). Spread sliced pieces on a baking sheet and bake for 15 minutes, then flip and bake for another 15 minutes.
