  • 6 bags Black Tea for a strong flavor
  • 2.5 cups Water to steep the tea
  • 2 teaspoons Vanilla Extract optional
  • 2 pieces Star Anise
  • 1 tablespoon Whole Cardamom
  • 1 stick Cinnamon Stick
  • 0.25 piece Vanilla Bean split
  • 2 teaspoons Ground Turmeric for color
For Sweetening and Creaminess
  • 2 tablespoons Sugar adjust to taste
  • 0.25 cup Sweetened Condensed Milk
  • 0.25 cup Evaporated Milk or Whole Milk can substitute with coconut milk
Optional Additions
  • Boba (Tapioca Pearls) for a bubble tea twist

Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions for Thai Iced Tea
  1. In a medium-sized pot, combine the black tea bags, water, vanilla extract, star anise, whole cardamom, cinnamon stick, split vanilla bean, and ground turmeric. Bring to a simmer over medium heat.
  2. Reduce heat to low and let brew for 3-5 minutes, stirring occasionally. Do not over-brew.
  3. Remove from heat and strain the tea mixture into a jug.
  4. Fill glasses with ice cubes. Pour the strained tea over the ice.
  5. In a separate bowl, whisk together the sweetened condensed milk and evaporated milk (or coconut milk) until combined.
  6. Pour the creamy milk mixture over the iced tea and garnish with fresh mint if desired.
  7. For a boba twist, prepare tapioca pearls and layer them in the glasses before adding ice and tea.
