- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and nutmeg.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together melted butter, eggs, milk, and vanilla extract.
- Pour wet ingredients into dry ingredients and stir gently until just combined.
- Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
- After chilling, roll the dough out to about 1/2 inch thick and cut into donut shapes.
- Heat oil in a deep pot to 350°F (175°C) and ensure the temperature is constant.
- Fry donuts in batches for 2-3 minutes per side until golden brown.
- Remove donuts and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil.
