  • 0.75 cup Sugar coconut sugar or brown sugar work well
  • 0.5 teaspoon Salt
  • 1 teaspoon Baking Soda
  • 1 teaspoon Baking Powder
  • 1 tablespoon Cinnamon and optional allspice

Baking Steps
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease an 8-inch baking pan.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together applesauce, water, oil (or applesauce), vanilla extract, and vinegar.
  3. In another bowl, combine flour, sugar, salt, baking soda, baking powder, and cinnamon.
  4. Fold the dry mixture into the wet ingredients until just combined.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and bake for 28-30 minutes.
  6. Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
  7. Frost with vegan cream cheese frosting or serve plain and enjoy.
