Step-by-Step Instructions
- Chill the glass and ingredients by placing a highball or Collins glass in the freezer for 5 to 10 minutes.
- Fill the chilled glass about three-quarters full with fresh, clear ice cubes.
- Pour in 1.5 to 2 ounces of bourbon over the ice.
- Measure out 0.75 to 1 ounce of vanilla syrup and drizzle it into the glass.
- Pour in 0.5 to 1 ounce of heavy cream or half-and-half.
- Slowly add 4 to 6 ounces of club soda, gently pouring it down the side of the glass.
- Stir gently with a bar spoon, giving two or three slow turns.
- Taste your drink and adjust sweetness or richness as desired.
- Garnish with whipped cream, a maraschino cherry, or a twist of orange and serve immediately.
