Step-by-Step Instructions
- Begin by placing 1 cup of blue candy melts and 1 tablespoon of butter or coconut oil in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring after each interval, until the mixture is fully melted and smooth—this should take about 1-2 minutes.
- While the blue candy melts are melting, pour ½ cup of powdered sugar into a large Ziploc bag.
- Once the blue candy is smooth, pour it over 1 cup of Rice Chex in a large mixing bowl. Use a spatula to gently stir the cereal, ensuring every piece is evenly coated in the melted candy.
- Carefully transfer the coated Rice Chex into the prepared Ziploc bag with powdered sugar. Seal the bag, then shake vigorously until the cereal is well coated. Spread the powdered sugar-coated Chex onto parchment paper and let it cool for about 10 minutes.
- Repeat the melting process using 1 cup of red candy melts with another tablespoon of butter or coconut oil. Microwave in 30-second intervals until fully melted and smooth.
- Pour the melted red candy over another 1 cup of Rice Chex in a mixing bowl. Stir again to coat the cereal thoroughly.
- Combine both the blue and red coated Chex in a large mixing bowl with 1 cup of yogurt-covered pretzels, 1 cup of M&M's, and ½ cup of yogurt-covered raisins. Gently toss everything together until well mixed.
- Transfer the 4th of July snack mix to a large serving bowl or festive containers. Serve immediately.
