  • to taste Black Pepper Essential for seasoning
  • 2 tablespoons Olive Oil Can substitute with avocado oil

Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9x13-inch baking dish with olive oil.
  2. In a large skillet, warm olive oil over medium heat then add chopped onion and minced garlic. Sauté for about 2 minutes until fragrant.
  3. Add ground turkey to the skillet, cooking and breaking it apart for about 5 to 6 minutes until browned.
  4. Stir in diced tomatoes, dried Italian herbs, salt, and black pepper. Simmer on low heat for 3 to 4 minutes.
  5. Layer half of the sliced zucchini in the greased baking dish, followed by half of the turkey mixture and half of the mozzarella cheese. Repeat layering.
  6. Bake uncovered in the preheated oven for 30 to 35 minutes until cheese is bubbly and golden.
  7. Remove from oven and let cool for about 5 minutes before serving.
