- Prepare the pie crust by rolling out your double pie crust on a lightly floured surface. Fit the bottom crust into a 9-inch pie plate.
- In a large mixing bowl, toss apple slices with sugar, flour, cinnamon, salt, nutmeg, and lemon juice. Let the filling sit for about 10 minutes.
- Take the chilled pie crust from the refrigerator, spoon the apple filling into the crust and spread it. Dot with small pieces of butter.
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Bake the assembled pie on a baking sheet for 15 minutes, then reduce temperature to 375°F (190°C) and bake for another 30 minutes.
- Remove the pie from the oven and let it cool on a wire rack for about 2 hours.
