Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and prepare a muffin pan.
- Cream together the unsalted butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
- Incorporate the eggs one at a time and then mix in the almond extract.
- Sift together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually mix this with the creamed mixture, alternating with milk.
- Carefully fold in the cherries and slivered almonds.
- Fill the muffin cups about 2/3 full and sprinkle granulated sugar on top.
- Bake the muffins for 25 to 30 minutes until golden brown.
- Allow the muffins to cool in the pan for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
