Step-by-Step Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grab your donut pans. Coat each cavity generously with a flour-based baking spray to prevent sticking.
- In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, baking powder, unsweetened cocoa powder, salt, and granulated sugar.
- Add in the large egg, vegetable oil, boiling water, milk, and vanilla extract to your dry ingredients. Mix gently until just combined.
- Using a glass measuring cup or a piping bag, fill each cavity of the prepared donut pans about three-quarters full with the chocolate batter.
- Place your filled donut pans in the preheated oven and bake for 8 to 10 minutes.
- Remove the pans from the oven and let them cool for a couple of minutes. Then, gently transfer the donuts to a wire rack to cool completely.
- In a small saucepan, heat the heavy whipping cream over medium heat until it just starts to simmer. Pour the hot cream over semi-sweet chocolate chips in a bowl and let it sit for a minute before stirring until completely smooth.
- Take each cooled donut and dip the top into the glossy ganache, allowing any excess to drip off.

Notes
Proper greasing of donut pans prevents sticking. Allow donuts to cool completely before dipping in ganache.
