Step-by-Step Instructions for Milk Bread Loaf
  1. Warm your milk to about 110°F (43°C). Combine the warmed milk with 1 teaspoon of sugar and the active dry yeast. Let sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, remaining sugar, and salt. Make sure to mix well.
  3. Once the yeast mixture is frothy, pour it along with the softened butter into the dry ingredients. Stir until a shaggy dough forms.
  4. Transfer the shaggy dough onto a floured surface. Knead for about 10 minutes until the dough is smooth and elastic.
  5. Lightly oil a bowl and place the kneaded dough inside, turning to coat. Cover and let rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  6. Gently punch down the dough to release air. Shape into a loaf and place in a greased loaf pan. Cover and let rise for 30 minutes.
  7. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the Milk Bread Loaf for 30-35 minutes until golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped.
  8. Remove the loaf from the oven and cool in the pan for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack. Let cool completely before slicing.
