- Preheat your oven to 325°F (163°C). Prepare a greased 9x13-inch pan.
- Melt 1 cup of unsalted butter in a microwave-safe bowl.
- Combine 2 cups of quick oats, 1 cup of all-purpose flour, and 1 cup of brown sugar with melted butter.
- Set aside a third of the mixture and press the rest into the greased pan. Bake for 10 minutes.
- In a saucepan, melt 1/2 cup of butter and stir in 1 cup of brown sugar.
- Add 1/2 cup of milk and 1 teaspoon of vanilla to the butter and sugar mixture, whisking until smooth.
- Mix in 2 tablespoons of additional flour, cooking until the mixture thickens.
- Pour the caramel filling over the baked crust and sprinkle with the reserved crust mixture.
- Bake the assembled bars at 300°F (149°C) for 20 minutes.
- Let the bars cool completely in the pan before cutting into squares.
