  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt for 30 seconds to ensure a uniform mixture.

  4. Stir in hot coffee (or hot water) until just combined; the batter will be thin which will ensure a moist cake.

  6. Cool the cakes in the pans for 10 minutes, then run a knife around the edges and invert onto a wire rack to cool completely.
  7. To make the frosting, beat the heavy cream until creamy, then add powdered sugar, cocoa, and vanilla, blending until fluffy.
