Step-by-Step Instructions
- Begin by placing your desired amount of Nutella into a microwave-safe bowl. Heat it in the microwave for 20-30 seconds, stopping to stir every ten seconds until the Nutella is smooth and pourable. Set it aside for later, ensuring that it remains warm and ready for dipping.
- In a medium saucepan, combine 1 cup of water, 1/2 cup of unsalted butter, 1/4 teaspoon of salt, and 1/4 cup of granulated sugar. Heat over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the mixture reaches a rolling boil (about 5-7 minutes).
- Once boiling, remove the saucepan from heat and stir in 1 cup of all-purpose flour. Mix vigorously until a smooth ball of dough forms (1-2 minutes). Let the dough cool for about 5 minutes.
- After cooling, add 2 large eggs to the dough, one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Ensure each egg is fully incorporated before adding the next.
- In a separate bowl, mix together 1/2 cup of granulated sugar and 1 tablespoon of ground cinnamon to create your cinnamon-sugar coating. Set this mixture aside.
- In a deep fryer or heavy pot, pour enough vegetable oil to fill it about 2 inches deep. Heat the oil to 350°F (175°C). Use a candy thermometer to monitor the temperature.
- Using a piping bag or a zip-top bag, pipe 4-6 inch strips of dough directly into the hot oil. Fry each strip for about 2-3 minutes per side until golden brown.
- Once fried, carefully remove churro bites from the oil and let them drain on paper towels. While still warm, roll them in the cinnamon-sugar mixture.
- Present your Nutty Churro Bites warm on a serving platter, accompanied by the melted Nutella for dipping.
