  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar apple cider vinegar works in a pinch
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil toasted for extra depth
  • 1 teaspoon sugar honey or agave syrup can be used
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes adjust to suit your spice tolerance
For the Stir Fry
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil can substitute with canola or peanut oil
  • 1 medium onion thinly sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 inch ginger freshly grated
  • 4 cups green cabbage shredded
  • 1 cup carrots julienned
  • 1 medium red bell pepper sliced
  • 3 stalks green onions chopped
  • 2 tablespoons sesame seeds optional

Method
 

Cooking Instructions
  1. Heat the oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat for 1-2 minutes.
  2. Add the sliced onion and sauté for 2-3 minutes until translucent and fragrant.
  3. Stir in the minced garlic and grated ginger, cooking for about 30 seconds.
  4. Add the shredded cabbage, julienned carrots, and sliced red bell pepper, stir-frying for 5-7 minutes.
  5. In a separate bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, sugar, and red pepper flakes.
  6. Pour the sauce over the vegetables in the skillet and cook for an additional 2 minutes.
  7. Remove from heat and stir in the chopped green onions.
