- In a medium bowl, combine brown sugar, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, and dried thyme. Mix well until you have a uniform spice blend. Set aside the mixture for later use.
- Lightly spray the inside of your slow cooker with cooking spray. Create a foil ring by crumpling aluminum foil into a coil and place it at the bottom of the slow cooker.
- Pat the whole chicken dry with paper towels. Generously apply the prepared spice mixture all over the chicken, including inside the cavity.
- Place the seasoned chicken on top of the foil ring in the slow cooker. Cover and cook on HIGH for 3 to 4 hours, until the internal temperature reaches 165°F.
- Transfer the cooked chicken onto a broiler-safe pan. Preheat your broiler and broil the chicken on high for about 4 to 5 minutes for crispy skin.
- Let the chicken rest for about 5 minutes before carving to allow juices to redistribute.
