Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. In a stand mixer, combine flour, sugar, yeast, and salt. Pour in warm milk and melted butter. Mix until smooth.
  2. Transfer dough to greased bowl, cover, and let rise in a warm spot for 30-60 minutes until doubled.
  3. Preheat oven to 450°F (230°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  4. Punch down the dough and divide it into 12 pieces. Roll into ropes and cut into 1-2 inch bites.
  5. Boil water and stir in baking soda. Drop dough pieces into water for 30 seconds, then place on baking sheets.
  6. Whisk egg and water for egg wash. Brush over bites and sprinkle salt. Bake for 12-14 minutes until golden.
  7. Let cool slightly and serve warm with honey mustard dip.
