Ingredients

For the Dough
  • 0.5 cup Unsalted Butter Provides richness and moisture; make sure it's very soft for better blending.
  • 15.25 oz Strawberry Cake Mix The shortcut base for these bars; don't follow box instructions for baking.
  • 1 Large Egg Binds the ingredients together.
For the Sweetness
  • 1 cup White Chocolate Chips Adds sweetness and texture; feel free to swap with milk or semi-sweet chocolate.
  • 8 oz Sweetened Condensed Milk Creates a gooey layer; fat-free is an option if desired.

Equipment

  • Mixing bowl
  • Handheld mixer
  • 9x9-inch baking pan
  • aluminum foil
  • cooking spray

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9x9-inch baking pan with aluminum foil and spray with cooking spray.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream the unsalted butter until smooth and creamy, about 1-2 minutes.
  3. Add the entire box of strawberry cake mix and the egg, mixing on low speed until a thick dough forms, about 1-2 minutes.
  4. Press half to two-thirds of the dough into the prepared pan to create a base layer.
  5. Sprinkle the white chocolate chips evenly over the pressed dough.
  6. Drizzle the sweetened condensed milk over the chips.
  7. Crumble the remaining dough over the chocolate layer.
  8. Bake for 27-30 minutes until the edges are set and the center is slightly jiggly.
  9. Allow the bars to cool in the pan for 2-3 hours before slicing.
