Preparation Steps
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Spread the walnuts evenly on a baking sheet and toast them for 8–10 minutes.
- In a large mixing bowl, cream the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar together until light and fluffy.
- Add one egg, the egg yolk, and vanilla extract to the creamed mixture. Beat until fully combined.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cornstarch, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add to the wet ingredients, mixing until a soft dough forms.
- Fold in the chocolate chips and chopped walnuts until evenly distributed.
- Portion out the cookie dough onto a lined baking sheet and chill in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) again and prepare additional baking sheets for baking.
- Bake the cookies for 11–13 minutes. The edges should be golden while the centers are slightly underbaked.
- Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
