  • 1 cup Water (boiling) ensure it's boiling

Step-by-Step Instructions for Chocolate Cobbler
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 1.5-quart casserole dish with butter or non-stick spray.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, sugar, and cocoa powder until combined. Stir in melted butter, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth. Fold in walnuts if using.
  3. Spread the batter evenly into the greased casserole dish.
  4. In a separate bowl, mix together brown sugar, cocoa powder, and a pinch of salt. Sprinkle evenly over the batter without stirring.
  5. Pour boiling water over the batter and dry mixture slowly. Do not stir!
