Ingredients

For the Truffle Mixture
  • 1 cup Heavy Cream Adds richness and smooth texture to the ganache.
  • 1/4 cup Tequila Provides the distinctive boozy kick; substitute with additional orange juice for a non-alcoholic version.
  • 1/2 cup Orange Juice Elevates the citrus flavor; freshly squeezed is preferred.
  • 1 tbsp Lime Juice Balances sweetness with tartness; always freshly squeezed.
  • 8 oz White Chocolate Creates a creamy base; can be replaced with dark chocolate.
  • 1 tbsp Orange Zest Infuses a fragrant citrus aroma; use fresh orange zest.
For Coating
  • 1/2 cup Granulated Sugar Coats the truffles for added sweetness and texture.

Equipment

  • medium saucepan
  • Airtight Container
  • cookie scoop
  • Baking sheet

Method

Truffle Preparation
  1. In a medium saucepan, combine the fresh orange zest and heavy cream. Heat the mixture over medium heat for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until warm but not boiling.
  2. Remove the saucepan from heat and add the white chocolate to the infused cream. Stir until the chocolate melts completely and the mixture is smooth.
  3. Mix in the orange juice, lime juice, and tequila until well combined.
  4. Transfer the ganache mixture to an airtight container and refrigerate for about 2 to 3 hours, or until it becomes a soft set.
  5. Use a small cookie scoop to portion out the mixture and roll each portion between your hands to form smooth balls.
  6. Roll each truffle ball in granulated sugar until fully coated, then refrigerate for an additional hour until set.

Notes

For longer shelf life, refrigerate the truffles in an airtight container; they can last up to 1-2 months while retaining flavor. Optionally, remove tequila for a kid-friendly version by replacing it with more orange juice.
